Meet David Kott
David and his wife Janet were both born and raised in the Chicago area, but settled in Kenosha County in 2004, having fallen in love with "the Wisconsin way of life." David has had a wide variety of professional experiences over the years, giving him a unique perspective on insurance.
In 2008, he obtained his insurance license while working alongside his wife at a local funeral home. Often he would help people pre-arrange funerals, sparing their families a difficult task in the midst of grief. At other times, he met with bereaved families to counsel them through the funeral planning process. He saw firsthand how life insurance could have eased a burden for loved ones at a difficult time. Many would say, “I always meant to do it,” or “it wasn’t enough.” These experiences led him to shift gears and focus exclusively on meeting clients' insurance needs.
David began working for a State Farm agent in 2009, and helped clients with a wide variety of policies, including home and auto. When an opportunity came along with American Family, he knew he had to take it, and successfully ran his own office through December of 2018. Seeking a wider range of options for his customers, he became an independent agent, offering an array of insurance products to suit most any need.
David is an ordained minister and enjoys filling in for other pastors, giving them much-needed breaks for rest and renewal. He also enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and music composition, recording, and production.
Meet Janet Kott
Janet obtained her insurance licenses in 1999 while working for a State Farm agent. She has held her license ever since, and is passionate about helping others prepare for the storms in life. She began working at a Chicago-area funeral home in 2003, giving her a unique perspective when it comes to life insurance. After relocating to Wisconsin, she continued to work with families and their loved ones at a Kenosha funeral home, leading her to conclude that being adequately prepared for the unexpected is essential. She recalls, “One thing I learned when working at the funeral home is this: nobody ever says they had too much life insurance; it was always, 'we didn’t have enough.'” While nothing can take away from a family's grief, proper life insurance planning can ease some of the financial strain and worry.
Janet took some time to focus on raising her daughters, but when David opened his American Family office in 2012, she joined him, working in both customer service and sales. She enjoys using her years of experience in the industry to work alongside her husband. Janet enjoys spending time with her family and friends, spending time outdoors and is very competitive when playing board games.
David and Janet live life knowing each day is a gift and while they strive to prepare as best they can for the future, life can change drastically in a moment - and to never take anything for granted.
